چکیده
OBJECTIVE To present a simplified classification of the deviated nose and the associated treatment outcome. DESIGN Retrospective analysis. SETTING Tertiary care rhinology clinic. PATIENTS Seventy-five individuals (49 males and 26 females) who underwent rhinoplasty for a deviated nose with minimum follow-up of 36 months. MAIN OUTCOME MEASURES Depending on the orientation of 2 horizontal subunits (the bony pyramid and the cartilaginous vault) with respect to the facial midline, the nasal deviations are classified into 5 types: I, a straight tilted bony pyramid with a straight tilted cartilaginous vault in the opposite direction; II, a straight tilted bony pyramid with a concavely or convexly bent cartilaginous vault; III, a straight bony pyramid with a tilted cartilaginous vault; IV, a straight bony pyramid with a bent cartilaginous vault, and V, a straight tilted bony pyramid and a tilted cartilaginous dorsum in the same direction. RESULTS Deformities of types I through V occurred in 24 (32%), 19 (25%), 19 (25%), 7 (9%), and 6 (8%) patients, respectively, in whom 1, 3, 2, 1, and 1 unsuccessful outcomes were found. Four of the 8 failed cases had been approached endonasally. CONCLUSION The proposed classification for the deviated nose could serve as a valuable adjunct in the treatment of these patients.

Frequency and Characteristics of Facial Asymmetry in Patients With Deviated Noses.
IMPORTANCE Facial asymmetry is frequently detected in patients who are seeking rhinoplasty for a deviated nose, and its presence often leads to failure to create a straight-looking nose. OBJECTIVE To analyze the frequency and characteristics of facial asymmetry in patients with a deviated nose and to identify representative parameters to describe types and severity of facial asymmetry. DESI...

OBJECTIVES/HYPOTHESIS The present study analyzed 631 deviated nose cases to determine the overall success rate of correction, the treatment outcomes according to the different types of deviation, and the revision rate. STUDY DESIGN Case series study. METHODS We reviewed 631 patients who underwent rhinoplasty for correction of a deviated nose with a minimum follow-up of 18 months. Surgical o...
متن کاملThe role of septal surgery in management of the deviated nose.
The deviated nose represents a complex cosmetic and functional problem. Septal surgery plays a central role in the successful management of the externally deviated nose. This study included 260 patients seeking rhinoplasty to correct external nasal deviations; 75 percent of them had various degrees of nasal obstruction. Septal surgery was necessary in 232 patients (89 percent), not only to impr...
متن کاملTreatment outcomes of extracorporeal septoplasty compared with in situ septal correction in rhinoplasty.
IMPORTANCE Extracorporeal septoplasty (ECS) in rhinoplasty is a useful surgical procedure that can achieve considerable functional and aesthetic improvements in the treatment of a deviated nose. However, to our knowledge, no study has compared the treatment outcomes of ECS with those of in situ septal correction (ISSC) in rhinoplasty. OBJECTIVE To compare the surgical outcomes of ECS with tho...
متن کاملDeviated nose correction by using the spreader graft in the convex side.
UNLABELLED A deviated nose is the result of a set of anatomical abnormalities, and for this reason there are many methods for correcting such defects. Therefore we should not use only one single method in all cases of nasal deformities. AIM In this prospective study we propose a new method using a spreader graft on the convex side of the deviated nose. METHODS We performed rhinoplasty in si...
